Flamingo Shirt Dress: Part Four

Monday night I came down with a stomach virus, which had me in bed for most of the week recovering.  I’m still not 100 percent but I was able to move around the house more today, and I was able to get some work done on my flamingo shirt dress.

Sewing the waistband facing onto the bodice.

Pleating the skirt pieces.  Over the years I’ve come to like pleating more than gathering, technique-wise.  This was another thing that I thought would be very complicated when I first started but soon saw it was pretty simple and now it’s old hat.

Putting in the pockets.  I don’t do a ton of pockets on things usually but I always appreciate it when I do.

The open full skirt, getting ready to be attached to the bodice.

Bodice and skirt attached!  I am so excited about how the dress is coming out – I can’t wait to wear it, but I think I’ll probably wait til doing rather than try to cover it up with a sweater.

These pictures are out of order but the bottom one is the pinned waistband facing on the skirt, and then the top is the sewing process getting started.

And that’s my progress for today – I just didn’t have the energy to press the hem today.  Hopefully tomorrow my full energy will be back and I can polish more of this off!
