{Latest Make: The Sew Over It Lizzie Skirt}

As I mentioned last week, I haven’t been doing a ton of personal sewing lately. However, I was recently able to finish my first Sew Over It Lizzie Skirt and its love at first wear!

I have no idea why I don’t make more skirts! This was so easy, especially since I didn’t even need to hem it. I found the fabric on sale at Joann Fabrics over the summer and knew right away what it wanted to do with it. I knew the beautiful scalloped edge would work beautifully with a simple skirt, and I loved the eyelet. Plus, it was 60% off and I got three yards for just over the price of one!

When I first made the skirt, I had just come off of a summer of eating nonstop and it actually didn’t fit. I was super bummed because I loved the fabric so much. However, I have dropped ten pounds since September began and was thrilled when I tried it on again and it fit!

As the skirt has eyelet/hole details, I chose to line it. For the lining, I used something easy that I already had on hand: an old sheet that was still good aside from the fact that it had a big rip in it. While it no longer worked as bedding, there was plenty of usable fabric to work with!

I loved wearing it all day. It’s the perfect length for work and I felt super girly in it all day. I know this will be a new wardrobe staple and I absolutely can’t wait to make another one.
