Now that I finally have time to sew for myself again, I’ve started with abandon. I was able to finish one work-in-progress that I’ve had going for quite some time, as well as whip up a brand new dress in an afternoon!
My first make was one I started back in January, when I made my resolution to sew at least ten minutes a day. This was a resolution that I kept up with, although not everyday. Even so, because of this resolution, I was able to be fairly productive in January despite having tons of other stuff going on.

The dress is a Tilly and the Buttons Lilou Dress from the Love at First Stitch book. This was a first time make for me, and I found it to be a very straightforward, easy to use pattern that resulted in a really adorable cocktail dress. I made it in a chambray with a little polka dot print pattern on it. My only problem? It’s not quite a work dress and it’s not SUPER fancy, so I’ll have to find some other, slightly dressier events to wear it to.
I also realize as I’m posting these pictures that I didn’t do the little front bow that goes with the dress, so I think once I add that on it’ll take it up a notch.
My next make was a repeat make, the Sew Over it Emma Dress. This is a really great little dress if you’re pressed for time, or just starting to work with knits.

I love the Emma dress. This is the first time I’ve made it in a lighter knit (the fabric was from Rifle Paper Co). I chose to make it a little more spring-y by shortening the sleeves and leaving off the sleeve cuffs. I’m really pleased with how it came out, and I’ve already taken it out for a day in the sun to work and to see Come from Away last week!
The Emma marks the second completed project of the Sewing Bingo makes that I want to do for the year. So far I have yet to tackle my fabric make nine, but I have a few dresses cut and in the works very soon!

Technically it also falls under the repeat category, but I don’t want to overlap one make on multiple categories, and I know that I’ll have other repeat sometime during the year (I’ve got one cut out and ready to go right now, as a matter of fact).
The first in the Sewing Bingo, Long Time Coming, was featured in this post.
I am anticipating March to be a big sewing month with lots to share in the upcoming weeks. My birthday is coming up and I’m celebrating this year at the TWA Hotel, which of course means lots of retro outfits to make and have ready! Can I do it? Yes I can! WILL I do it? Well, that’s another question entirely but I’m sure going to try!
