Theater: Into the Woods

July 26, 2012 by kelerr

On Tuesday evening, I got the chance to see the Public Theater’s production of Into the Woods as part of the Shakespeare in the Park summer series.  Yes, Into the Woods is not Shakespeare, but for their 50th anniversary, it was deemed that they would perform As You Like It and then Into the Woods to mix it up a little bit.  I was, naturally, immediately excited.  I adore Into the Woods; it was my first musical.  So it was […]

Book Review: Arranged, by Catherine McKenzie

July 19, 2012 by kelerr

In Arranged, Catherine McKensie tells the story of Anne Blythe (yes, named after the Anne of Green Gables character after her marriage to Gilbert Blythe), a thirty-something year old woman who is having bad luck with love. So far this sounds like the plot to every other chick lit book out there, right? Well, I’ll be embarrassingly honest (for an English major, anyway) – I was likely to read it anyway because I enjoy this overtold love story. I really […]

Repurposing: The Red Shift Dress

July 18, 2012 by kelerr

I bought this dress from Modcloth about a year and a half ago. I wore it a couple times – to work, and then to my family’s Thanksgiving celebration. I liked it, but the collar bothered me. After a few washings, no matter what I did, the collar didn’t lay the way it was supposed to. In any case, I just stopped wearing it one day, but it remained in my closet, just sitting there useless. As it happens, recently […]

An Impromptu Girls’ Night

June 18, 2012 by kelerr

Just after work ended for the day, I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to go to the opening day of the Cyclones baseball season with her. Being not completely disinterested in baseball (in fact, I kind of like it), I agreed. Add my sister to the mix and we had an impromptu girls night out. My main interest in baseball games lies in food. Hot dogs, mostly. As we watched the game, our interests fell […]

Smorgasburg and Sunburns: A Weekend Tale

June 17, 2012 by kelerr

This weekend loomed gloriously on Friday. Though I’m not one to complain about work, and in fact really enjoy it most of the time, I was tired. Exhausted, really. And so I was glad to head home to get some rest, knowing I had a full weekend ahead of me – my dad was coming in on Saturday for an early Father’s Day Celebration, and then today I was supposed to see my mom in a show (I didn’t end […]

{Travel Tales: A Weekend in Massachusetts, Part Four}

October 20, 2011 by kelerr

Thus we come to the final post of our weekend in Massachuetts. Though we didn’t go home until Sunday, we also didn’t take too many pictures so ththis last post will be all about the wedding. A little background: it was the wedding of Michael Clancey and Paula Raimo. We’ve known Mike since he was in kindergarten, as he was friends with Joe. Through them, Donna (Mike’s mom) became best friends with Pam, and soon they were honorary members of […]

{Travel Tales: A Weekend in Massachuetts, Part Three}

October 18, 2011 by kelerr

The photoblog format worked well for me in our last travel tales post, so I’ll continue here, especially since the pictures I have from the weekend continue to be numerous! We arrived at the Causeway in Gloucester, Massachusetts good and hungry. Lindsay and Paul were saving the table, so we were able to sit down right away and get to ordering. “The cousins” end of the table got an order of the family-famous muscles (we got them the first time […]

{Travel Tales: A Weekend in Massachusetts, Part Two}

October 17, 2011 by kelerr

Because there are so many pictures from this day, I’ll use the pictures to tell the story this time around. After a nice leisurely breakfast at the hotel (complimentary), we headed out to do some shopping before going back to Dugie. Here are Ted and Joe waiting for everyone to make it down to the lobby so we could head off in our various vehicles. We had a big day planned, complete with the aforementioned shopping trip, stopping off at […]

{Travel Tales: A Weekend in Massachusetts, Part One}

October 15, 2011 by kelerr

Our family adventure in Massachusetts began Thursday morning, September 24. After delaying the start of our travel plans, my mom, my aunt and I piled into the car with more stuff than any three people should need for a three-night stay at a hotel (okay, fine, most of this stuff was mine). I settled into grading papers as the car made it’s way to the lovely state of Massachusetts, and the three of us also watched the sky as the […]
